Q.1 - In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

There were many things that gave us inspiration in the creation of our music video, Including other media texts. We had researched into music video’s such as ‘Ed Sheeran’s  A-team’, ‘Ellie Gouldings Your song’ nature features heavily in both of these videos and the other video that was researched was 'Adeles Rolling in the deep' focused all on an inside setting. We made the decision to merge the two together using a transition effect. This was a way of using something that is already made but  switching it up to make something new. In the video we made we also followed very similar lighting to the inside and out as to what is in the original videos.

Q.3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?

As we needed to get audience feedback for our music videos, we looked into our 'Facebook' audience research group and decided selected the member we believed gave the most informative feedback on our digipaks. We asked if we could ask her some questions in relation to our music video and film it.

Q1: What happens In the narrative?

Q.2 Does the performance look convincing?

Q.3: Does it remind you of any other music video or media texts?

Q.4: If you could change one thing, what would it be?

As can be seen, we asked questions for her understanding of narrative, performance, relation to other music videos or media texts and suggested changes needed. Stuart Hall states that the audience will either take a preferred, negotiated or oppositional reading. It is clearly seen that Laura takes a preferred reading to the music video. She shows a clear understanding of the text present, and was easily able to identify the genre in which the video belonged to. This was due to her current understanding of the 'Indie' genre and as a result was able to connect location, and mise en scene of our video to that genre.
Steve Neale states that genre is made up of repetition and difference and in our video we have used this. We asked Laura for her opinion on which parts she liked and didn't like. As to no surprise the part she liked was the transition from inside to out.
As Jake had a very good performance minus the feedback of the enthusiasm. It was made very clear to Laura as to the layout of our video following 'Todorovs' structure. In the feedback to our video we also used Ien Ang view of 'media being even more multifaced and fragmented'. We did this by setting up a focus group on 'Facebook' which is a form of media 2.0. We used this so we could post images of our digipak and get feedback from a wider basis.
